The story of Sereintea begins with a shared yearning for tranquility and a deep respect for traditional Chinese culture. Our founding team brings together craftsmanship and inspiration from different regions. At the intersection of Chinese tea culture and ceramic art, the brand “Sereintea” was born.

One founder hails from the hometown of Xinyang Maojian, one of China’s top ten famous teas. There, verdant hills roll under shrouds of mist, nurturing not only the fresh, brisk, and mellow green tea but also a life philosophy centered on being close to nature and returning to simplicity. This spiritual essence from the tea mountains infuses Sereintea with the soul and spirit of tea, reminding us of the fundamental purpose of tea drinking – to cleanse the spirit amidst its lingering fragrance.

Other founders are deeply rooted in the fertile ground of Chinese ceramic art – Jingdezhen, the world-renowned Porcelain Capital, and Fujian, another major center for ceramics. Jingdezhen, where kiln fires have burned for over a thousand years, represents the pinnacle and legacy of Chinese ceramic craftsmanship. Each piece embodies the artisans’ wisdom and dedication, an artistic crystallization of fire and earth. Fujian boasts the jade-like warmth and smoothness of Dehua white porcelain, alongside other diverse ceramic styles, showcasing the dynamism and breadth of Southern ceramic art. This heritage from the porcelain capital and ceramic centers endows Sereintea tea ware with its beauty of form and artistic soul.

What is a JianZhan teaware?

We are often asked, what is a Jianzhan teaware? The answer is twofold: what makes these teaware special is both their unique shape and their specialist glaze. Jianzhan teaware are bowl shaped, but with a wide brim that allows the tea to stew and cool perfectly. They are glazed at a very high heat using a glaze with a high iron content, which creates a blackened and distinctively beautiful pattern that is unique only to Jianzhan pottery.

Whilst the glaze is always dark, Jianzhan pottery can be produced in a wide range of colours. The most traditional shades are brown and dark blue, but modern sets are also produced in shades of green, red, orange and even yellow. True tea affictionados believe that the mysterious dark glaze of the Jianzhan tea set is perfectly placed to highlight the light colour of the tea, showing it off in the best possible way.
